When it comes to educating its kids, Ohio falls in the middle of the class.

The state ranks 27th overall in WalletHub’s 2018 “Best School Systems” report, released Monday.

The personal-finance website compared the education systems in the 50 states and the District of Columbia in 25 measures of quality and safety to come up with the list. Measures included dropout rates, pupil-teacher ratio and standardized test scores, among others.

Massachusetts earned the top grade, while New Mexico ranks last.
